Chord Progression Guitar & Piano comes from a simple need: having chords, scales and progressions in one place, for guitar and piano, with no account, no subscription and no cluttered pages. The site is developed and maintained independently; the same app exists on iPhone and Android.

It is for beginners looking up how to play a chord, as well as for musicians who want to transpose a song, find a capo position or see a scale across the whole neck.

Tools: search a chord and see all its positions, explore the chords of a key and play a progression in time, see a scale on the fretboard and keyboard, identify a chord by tapping its notes, analyze the chord sheet of a song.

Lessons written by hand, in the Learn section, about the questions people ask while learning: first chords, barre chords, the capo, progressions, the pentatonic scale.

A reference page for the most used chords and scales, with their notes, intervals, fingerings and the keys they belong to.

The diagrams are not drawn one by one: a music engine computes each fingering from the notes of the chord, across the five positions of the neck (the CAGED system) and, on piano, in every inversion. Automated tests check every fingering note by note each time the code changes, and a verification screen lets you check them by eye and by ear.

The lessons are written and proofread by hand; every chord, fingering and note they mention is also checked by those tests. The date of the last update is shown at the bottom of each lesson.

Everything is free and will stay that way. The website may show Google ads, never in the middle of the diagrams; the iPhone and Android apps show none. No account is needed: your settings and progressions stay on your device. The details are on the Privacy page.
